SUEDE

Bühne frei für einen echten Klassiker der Schuhwelt - dem Suede Classic. In den 60er Jahren wurde der Suede zur Ikone. Getragen von großen Athleten wie Basketball-Legende Walt „Clyde“ Frazier und Leichtathlet und Olympiasieger Tommie Smith. Ende der 80er Jahre war dieser Wildleder-Sneaker in der HipHop und Breakdance Szene so beliebt, dass der Schuh bald Eigendynamik entwickelte und zum Mode-Objekt avancierte.

Der neue / alte Suede weist neben original Farben und dem gleichen Wildleder (engl. Suede) auch weitere feine Details auf: Das Original war vorne spitzer und hatte eine etwas niedrigere Aussensohle. Weiterhin ist der Sockliner im inneren des Schuhs jetzt wieder im All-Over Print voll bedruckt, und der Formstrip und die Schrift unter dem Logo sind auch wieder wie früher.

 

 

 

SUEDE

The Suede was ignited in the late 60s and still invigorates today. Worn by athletics greats such as basketball´s Walt “Clyde” Frazier and the track´s Tommie Smith, it rose to new levels of fame in the early days of b-boys and funk beats. As this underground music scene rose to the street surface, the Suede started making moves among break dance crews and hip-hop club-goers.

This revolution, like others, disrupted the norm. It followed the logic of the decade. And so did PUMA. We felt the culture to shift beneath our feet from strict convention into self-expression. We responded by translating sports gear into street wear.

The Suede tells our story of sport-inspired style. This time-honored member of PUMA Archive continues to evolve with the times while maintaining its smooth silhouette, swagger, and grit. The Suede proves that no matter the decade, the city, the continent – style can be revolutionary.
